GCSO Deputies arrest 34-yr old male who allowed child to drive family van
On Thursday (02/16/17) morning, Greene County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the Alpine Village in the 7500 block of West US Highway 60 after receiving phone calls about what appeared to be a child driving a minivan from the gas station at South State Highway MM and West US Highway 60.
GCSO Deputies located the vehicle and contacted a 34-year old male who was later arrested for several outstanding warrants. Deputies also checked on the well-being of the child who is now safely in her mother's care and custody.
"The decisions this person made could have ended in a very tragic situation for several innocent people," states Sheriff Jim Arnott. "Thankfully, the outcome wasn't different and no one was injured."
GCSO Deputies are continuing to investigate this incident and the 34-year old male has been transported to the Greene County Jail. GCSO Deputies will submit charges to the Greene County Prosecuting Attorney's Office for further review including 2nd Degree Child Endangerment and Permitting an Unlicensed Driver to Drive.
*A charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.*
