GCSO Deputies' quick response to robbery in progress results in 2 arrests

On Wednesday (02/15/17) morning, Greene County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the 2000 block of West Royal Oaks Drive in eastern Greene County after the homeowner called 9-1-1 to report a suspicious male who pointed a weapon at her husband. The husband confronted the male, later identified as ANTHONY S. TRIGGS, while he was rummaging through the homeowner's truck parked in the driveway. Triggs pointed a weapon at the husband who went back into the house.

Deputies quickly responded to the area and located a dark-in-color Ford Explorer nearby where they executed a traffic stop. They identified Triggs and 18-year old ALYSON G. EVANS in the vehicle along with items described by the victim. Both Triggs and Evans were arrested and transported to the Greene County Jail without incident.

Upon further investigation, Deputies recovered several items including a stolen designer handbag, a laptop computer, drug paraphernalia and a handgun. The Greene County Prosecuting Attorney's Office has charged ANTHONY S. TRIGGS with:
1 - Felony count of 1st Degree Burglary
1 - Felony count of 1st Degree Robbery
1 - Felony count of Armed Criminal Action

The Greene County Prosecuting Attorney's Office has charged ALYSON G. EVANS with:
1 - Felony count of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm
1 - Misdemeanor count of Receiving Stolen Property

"The quick response from our Deputies in locating, identifying and apprehending these two individuals is a testament to their dedication in serving the citizens of Greene County," states Sheriff Jim Arnott. "In this situation, no one was hurt or injured which is always the best case scenario ΜΆ the victim did the right thing walking away from a potentially dangerous situation and being observant to details which helped in the arrest. Our Deputies are still actively investigating this incident and looking into other burglary cases to determine any involvement or connection."

*A charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.*
