In this age of sensational posts, we do our best to not embellish or exaggerate. The reason for this is because we want you all to take it seriously when we post important safety info. This is one of those posts.  
 
Heavy rain is predicted for Thursday night into Saturday, with VERY heavy periods from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Friday.  This storm is predicted to have MORE rain than we experienced a few weeks ago.  Nearly 4 inches of rain is predicted for our area.  Clear out rain gutters, drains, and take appropriate precautions around your property including setting up sandbags to divert water away from low lying areas. Sandbags are available at some fire stations (more info below).
 
If the rain turns out to be similar to or worse than what we received in January, you can expect significant traffic delays related to flooding in the streets.  At peak times, emergency resources will be focused on responding to potentially life threatening situations and may not be able to respond to more routine calls for service in a timely manner.
 
Please take this seriously. Many people were caught by surprise during the last storm despite the persistent news coverage. Please prepare appropriately!

Storm Preparedness:  Are you ready for the next rain fall?

Sand and bags are available in San Dimas to San Dimas residents at the City Maintenance Yard at 301 Walnut starting October 15th.   Sand bags are very useful in diverting water, protecting slopes and structures, and assisting in erosion control.  Be prepared for the storm BEFORE it rains!  Bring a shovel and fill a few bags to keep for a rainy day.

V-Ditch Clearing - Do you have a drainage course on your property? Be sure drainages are clear of dirt and debris before it rains to avoid possible flood-related damages to your property and your neighbors.

SAN DIMAS STATION
 
San Dimas Sheriff’s Station is one of six stations within the East Patrol Division of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The Station’s jurisdiction encompasses approximately 276 square miles. In addition to serving the City of San Dimas, the station serves unincorporated communities of Azusa, Covina, Glendora, La Verne, Claremont, Pomona, the Los Angeles County portion of Mt. Baldy, a large portion of the Angeles National Forest (State Route 39), and portions of Angeles Crest Highway (Highway 2). The population for these areas is approximately one hundred and five thousand (105,000), nearly sixty sixty-nine thousand (69,000) in the unincorporated areas and more than thirty-six thousand (36,000) in the City of San Dimas.
