Serious Motor Vehicle Crash on Rt. 30 at Delilah Rd.

On Thursday, February 16, 2017 at 5:57pm the Absecon Police Department responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash on the Rt. 30 at Delilah Rd. Further investigation revealed that a 2015 Toyota Corolla driven by Jacklyn Fazio, 24 of North Cape May, had come to a sudden stop in the westbound right lane of Rt. 30 and partially on Delilah Rd. A 2003 Suzuki Grand Vitara driven by Pedro Valentin, 63 of Brigantine, was also traveling westbound on Rt. 30 in the right lane and was unable to avoid striking the Corolla. The Suzuki struck the Corolla and then the concrete barrier landing on its passenger side while continuing to travel. The Suzuki flipped back upright and traveled into the marsh before striking a utility pole.

Mr. Valentin was treated on scene by the Absecon Ambulance Squad and transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center City Campus for serious injuries. Ms. Fazio sustained minor injuries and was later evaluated by hospital staff at the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center City Campus.

The off ramp to Delilah Rd. as well as the westbound right lane of Rt. 30 were closed for approximately four hours for the investigation. The New Jersey State Department of Transportation assisted with traffic control.

Motor vehicle charges are pending for Ms. Fazio.
