A Fayette County resident recently reported a phone call from a person who claimed to be her relative. The impostor reported she had been arrested out of state, needed bond money and provided a phone number to call and speak to the attorney at the jail facility. Once on the phone with the fake attorney the Fayette County resident was told to purchase gift cards from Target then provide the card numbers.

This is another version of the Jury Duty scams and Arrest Warrant scams. Scam callers are very good at this and often prey on our older residents who they feel are easier to confuse. Please talk to your family members about the dangers of these scam calls.
