Emergency Preparedness & Public Safety Top Priority for Anderson Officials

Allied agencies have been convening daily in disaster preparedness meetings. These strategic planning meetings, headed by the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office (Office of Emergency Services), and are comprised of allied agencies throughout the region which will serve all Shasta County residents. The county has convened these meetings as a proactive measure to better manage our resources and provide efficient services in the event of an emergency. It is well known that some flooding has already occurred in parts of Shasta County due to storms, saturation, and the increased water releases from the Shasta Dam/Keswick Dam watersheds. With more rain forecasted, fluctuating river and creek levels will occur.

Anderson Police Chief Michael Johnson wants the citizens of Anderson to know that the City of Anderson has also taken proactive measures to further assist our citizens and the county residents. The City of Anderson has pooled additional resources, participated in and developed joint incident action plans, and met daily in local strategic preparedness meetings to assure that we can provide additional support to residents in the event of a critical incident.

There is no imminent threat to citizens at this time. However, it is important to take a proactive approach to any condition that could require extraordinary resources.
