Three Women Arrested During Traffic Stop
Muncie – Three Muncie women were arrested last night after the car they were in was stopped for having a headlight out. Just after 9:30 p.m. last night Trooper Michael Tinch was on Madison St. at 8th St. when he saw a Pontiac G6 with the driver side headlight out. He stopped the car at 6th and Madison to let the driver know about the headlight.
After making contact with the driver, Rebecca A. Sweat, age 33, and her two passengers, he became suspicious. Muncie Police Officer Chris Wells was nearby and came to assist with his K-9 partner Carlos, along with State Troopers Cook and Harvey. Officer Wells walked K-9 Carlos around the outside of the car, and he indicated the presence of narcotics in the car.
A search of the car located Methamphetamine, pills and paraphernalia. The driver, Rebecca Sweat, was arrested for Driving While Suspended, “A” Misdemeanor. The front seat passenger, Rachel Herbert, age 42 was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine, level 6 Felony, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Class “A” misdemeanor and Possession of Paraphernalia, misdemeanor.
The back seat passenger, Traci Brown, age 31, was found to be wanted on two misdemeanor warrants for conversion, and was also charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Level 6 Felony and Possession of Paraphernalia and Failure to Identify, both misdemeanor. All three women were lodged in the Delaware County Jail.
