Hockley County Sheriff's Office activities and calls for service for 2/17/17 through 2/19/17.
Good Monday morning! Even though I spilled coffee all over the desk and calendars, we are off to a good start this week! The following are calls for service and activities for the Sheriff’s Office for 2/17/17 through 2/19/17.
2/17/17
-Hwy 84 at Lamb County line: Welfare Check. A deputy was dispatched to check the welfare of a driver stopped at the county line. On arrival, Lamb County SO had already stopped and everything was determined to be okay. No assistance was required.
-Hwy 62/82 at Killdee Rd, Ropesville: Traffic Complaint. A deputy met with a complainant about individuals driving on his property using the field as a roadway. The owner was advised deputies would watch for individuals driving on private property, and a neighbor advised he would dig up the area so it could not be used for travel.
-2700 blk Belvedere Rd, Levelland: Alarm. Deputies were dispatched to an alarm activation at a residence in the area. After speaking with the homeowner, it was determined to be accidental.
-1800 blk Hwy 114, Levelland: Recovered Stolen Property. A camper that was reported stolen on 2/16/2017 was recovered and returned to the owner. Cochran County Sheriff’s Office located the stolen trailer and had it released to a tow service to be brought back to Levelland. The owner was contacted and the trailer was released to the owner.
-3200 blk Quail Rd, Smyer: Loud Music. Deputies were dispatched regarding a music complaint in the area. The noise was located in the 6900 blk Elk Rd, and the resident advised he would turn the music down.
2/18/17
-100 blk Leon Rd, Smyer: Suspicious Activity. A deputy was dispatched to attempt to locate a female walking in the area. Highway Patrol also responded to assist. THP trooper located the female who stated she had been in a verbal argument and was walking to “let off steam.” No offenses were reported.
-300 blk E. Washington, Levelland: Assist Levelland PD. A deputy assisted with a funeral escort in Levelland.
-800 blk N. Hwy 385, Levelland: Roadway Obstruction. A deputy was dispatched to the area in reference to an object in the roadway. The obstruction was removed and the roadway was cleared.
-600 blk Justin Rd, Levelland: Loose Livestock. A deputy was dispatched to attempt to locate a loose horse in the area. The deputy was able to locate the horse and secure it in a gated area. The owner was contacted and notified of the situation.
-5700 blk Ohio Rd, Anton: Alarm. A deputy was dispatched to a residential alarm. The owner contacted the Sheriff’s Office and advised it was an accidental activation.
-Hwy 385 at Tennessee Rd : Shots Fired. A deputy was dispatched to attempt to locate hunters shooting in the area. The area was searched and no one was located. The call was referred to Lamb County Sheriff’s Office to check along Hwy 385 north of the county line.
-Avenue H at 8th St, Levelland: Assist Levelland PD. A deputy was dispatched to assist with an alarm activation in the area. Employees were contacted and advised the alarm activation was accidental.
-FM 597 at FM 303: Fire. A deputy observed smoke in the area while on patrol. After searching for the source of the smoke, it was determined to be a fire in Cochran County. The information was relayed to the Cochran County Sheriff’s Office.
-3400 blk FM 2646, Levelland: Unwanted Subject. Deputies were dispatched to a report of an individual refusing to leave a residence. Prior the arrival of deputies the subject left the area. The area was searched and the subject was not located. No offenses were reported.
-900 blk Robin Rd, Levelland: Assist CPS. Deputies were dispatched to assist CPS with an investigation. No offenses were reported to deputies.
-6800 blk E. Hwy 114, Smyer: Assist CPS. Deputies were dispatched to assist CPS with an investigation at a residence due to possible safety concerns. No offenses were reported.
2/19/17
-400 blk Coke St, Anton: Theft. A deputy was dispatched to meet with a complainant about a theft issue. Deputies were advised a cell phone and other items were taken from the residence. A report was taken and an investigation is pending.
-Hwy 114 at FM 2646, Levelland: Disabled Vehicle. A deputy stopped to check status on a vehicle parked along Hwy 114. Contact was made with the driver, who advised the rental car company would be retrieving the vehicle.
-200 blk Viola, Levelland: Civil Standby. Deputies were requested to standby while a resident collected property before leaving. No offenses were reported and parties were separated.
-Cedar at Cherry, Levelland: Warrant Arrest. A driver was arrested on active warrants following a traffic contact for an observed violation. The driver was transported to the jai without incident.
Deputies also conducted close patrols/vacation watches, patrols in areas of the county, and investigative follow-up activities.
Jail Population as of 2/20/17 at 0800 hours: 44 in Hockley County, 4 being processed, and 34 out-of-county.
