Fatal Hit and Run Traffic Collision in Hollenbeck Area.
Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department Central Traffic Detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect involved in a hit and run that fatally injured a 60 year old man.
On February 20, 2017, just after 12:00 a.m., a possible dark gray BMW was travelling eastbound on Whittier Blvd just before Spence Street when it collided with a 60 year old male pedestrian who was walking in the middle of the roadway. The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and render aid to the pedestrian, as mandated by law.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported the victim to LAC+USC Medical Center in critical condition. Despite lifesaving efforts, the victim was pronounced dead a short time later. The identity of the victim is unknown.
On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit and Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members who provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
