Hit and Run Driver in Hollenbeck Area
Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department Central Traffic detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect involved in a hit and run that fatally injured a
60-year-old man.
On February 20, 2017, just after 12:00 a.m., a possible dark gray BMW was travelling eastbound on Whittier Boulevard just before Spence Street when it collided with the elderly man. The elderly man was walking in the middle of the roadway. The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and render aid to the pedestrian, as mandated by law.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital where he later died of his injuries. The identity of the victim is unknown.
On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit and Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members who provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
