Anderson Code Enforcement Officials Provide Valuable Assistance in Dealing with Community Nuisance’s.
Anderson Code Enforcement officials partnered with members of the Anderson P.D.’s, Problem Oriented Policing Unit (POP), and have targeted residential nuisances within the city limits. The latest nuisance was a residential home located in the 2600 block of Tremonto Drive. The location became a source of frustration for police after dealing with numerous and frequent calls for service at the home.
A number of arrests had been made at the Tremonto home over the past year for offenses ranging from narcotic violations to stolen property cases and arrests of wanted subjects who were often times listed on the Shasta County’s Most Wanted list. The police department was also receiving a high volume of complaints about the residence from other citizens who lived in the area.
In the wake of decriminalization acts such as Prop. 47, Code Enforcement officials have proven to be essential in providing solutions to deal with the nuisance residence’s, thus providing safety and preservation to the community. On February 9th 2017, Code Enforcement officials tagged the Tremonto Drive home as uninhabitable, citing obvious violations of the Anderson Municipal Code.
Ultimately, as a result of the tagging, the residential home can no longer be inhabited. Any person caught in a nuisance home after being properly tagged is subject to arrest for trespassing. Anderson Police have found a dramatic reduction in crime and call volume at nuisance locations within the city by involving Code Enforcement officials in their process.
The Anderson Police Department will continue to find proactive long-term solutions to problem areas within the community. Code Enforcement officials will subsequently be notified by police more frequently when faced with nuisance locations with the city limits.
