Sunday Blitz Leads to Numerous Arrests
North Vernon-On Sunday, February 19th, the Indiana State Police conducted a criminal interdiction patrol near North Vernon, Indiana in Jennings County which led to numerous arrests.
Troopers Rick Hewitt, Randel Miller, and Brent Lykins conducted patrols near North Vernon in daytime hours to look specifically for criminal offenses. During this patrol, troopers issued 10 traffic citations and 18 traffic warnings. They also made eight arrests on numerous offenses. Some of the arrests were for minor consumption, false informing, domestic battery, and arrest warrants. Numerous drug arrests were also made.
At approximately 12:50 pm, Trp. Brent Lykins stopped a 2004 Chevrolet Venture for a traffic violation on Norris Ave. near White St. in North Vernon. During the course of the traffic stop, Trp. Lykins became suspicious of criminal activity taking place. He requested Trp. Miller and K-9 Jinx respond to assist. K-9 Jinx alerted to the odor of illegal drugs coming from the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle, troopers located suspected methamphetamine, heroin, marijuana, controlled substances, and drug paraphernalia.
The driver of the vehicle, Jennifer L. Acree, age 25, North Vernon, Indiana was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of hypodermic syringe, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The passenger in the vehicle, Louann M. Parton, age 22, North Vernon, Indiana was arrested on charges possession of heroin, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a narcotic drug, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Parton was additionally charged with trafficking with an inmate after drugs were found hidden on her person while at the Jennings County Jail.
Both women were transported to the Jennings County Jail where they were incarcerated. The women will soon make an initial court appearance in the Jennings County Circuit Court.
The Indiana State Police is dedicated to actively pursuing those who are engaged in criminal activity in the communities we serve. We will continue to target those areas and communities where criminals choose to operate.
