Announces Arrests For:
Felony Possession of Marijuana, Manufacture/Sell/Deliver a Controlled Substance Within 1000’ of a Day Care, Possession With Intent to Sell/Deliver Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
The Southern Pines Police Department announces the arrests of Malcolm Lee Smith, 19 years of age of Southern Pines, North Carolina and Kapri Justice Baldwin, 20 years of age of Eagle Springs, North Carolina. Both Malcolm Lee Smith and Kapri Justice Baldwin were charged with the following charges: Felony Possession of Marijuana, Manufacture/Sell/Deliver a Controlled Substance Within 1000’ of a Day Care, Possession With Intent to Sell/Deliver Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. As a result of this investigation and subsequent search warrant, which took place at 940 W. Lowe Avenue in Southern Pines, North Carolina, approximately two pounds of high grade marijuana was recovered, along with packaging equipment and digital scales. The North Carolina Department of Revenue (DOR), has been notified by the Southern Pines Police Department to initiate a civil asset forfeiture process for unpaid substance taxes against both Malcom Lee Smith and Kapri Justice Baldwin.
Malcolm Lee Smith appeared before a Moore County Magistrate and was subsequently incarcerated in the Moore County Detention Center under a $50,000.00 secured bond pending a hearing in Moore County District Court on March 13, 2017.
Kapri Justice Baldwin appeared before a Moore County Magistrate and was subsequently incarcerated in the Moore County Detention Center under a $30,000.00 secured bond pending a hearing in Moore County District Court on March 13, 2017.
