Stolen Vehicle Investigation leads to Drug House Arrests

On Wednesday February 22, 2017 at about 1 PM an Anderson Officer was patrolling the area of Spring Gulch Road which is an area just on the outskirts of the city limits. Anderson Officers will occasionally patrol this area because there are a few houses that are well known for drug activity and stolen vehicles and those same criminals are often the ones committing crimes within the city limits.

While patrolling this road, the Officer spotted a vehicle that looked suspicious in the 19400 block of Spring Gulch Road so he ran the vehicles registration. The vehicle returned as a stolen vehicle out of Redding. A white male adult in all dark clothing walked briskly away from the vehicle, towards the back of the residence as the Officer pulled into the driveway. Officers from Anderson, Redding PD and CHP AIR OPS responded to assist in looking for the suspect that walked away.

A few visitors of the residence were either already outside or came outside while a perimeter was being established and those subjects were detained until their identity and involvement in the crime could be determined. The primary resident of that residence, Cory Crews, is on felony probation with a search clause. Once this was verified the officers searched the residence per the terms of his search clause and multiple other possible suspects were detained. The house and outbuildings all contained heroin related drug paraphernalia throughout. All the subjects involved are known to law enforcement with theft and drug related pasts.

A lengthy interview process ensued to identify the driver of the stolen vehicle. The suspect was not identified at the time and the investigation is ongoing. The vehicle was towed to a storage facility until the owner could respond to claim it.

Because the property appeared to be primarily a residence used for ingesting illegal substances, we will be requesting the charge of maintaining a drug house on the primary tenant, 40 year old Cory Crews of Anderson.

The following suspects were all cited for remaining at a drug house: 27 year old David Paul Jones of Shasta Lake city, 53 year old Donald Longwood of Anderson, 36 year old Sheila Epperson of Anderson, 29 year old Jeremy Shankles of Anderson, 30 year old Francisco Paulos of Anderson and 23 year old Cody Austin Ryan of Anderson.
