(Fort Wayne, IN)-The Superintendent of the Indiana State Police, Douglas G. Carter, has announced the promotion of Lieutenant Anthony C. Casto to the rank of Captain. Captain Casto will serve as the Commander for Area II which comprises the Indiana State Police Districts in Bremen, Fort Wayne and the Toll Road. He will oversee the field operations for the enforcement personnel and command staff in those Districts.
Casto, who is originally from LaPorte, Indiana, is a 1986 graduate of LaPorte High School. In 1990, he earned his Bachelor Degree in Education from Indiana State University. Casto was a teacher at Homestead High School for three years and at Whitko High School for one year before being accepted to the 51st Indiana State Police Recruit Academy. On December 4, 1994, he was appointed as a Trooper and assigned to the Indiana State Police Post in Fort Wayne, where he served the citizens of Adams and Wells Counties.
In 2009, Casto was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and served as a District Squad Leader for both the District K-9 teams as well as for the Troopers in both Blackford and Jay Counties. In 2011, Casto was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and served as the Fort Wayne District Commander. He oversaw the field operations for the enforcement personnel for that District.
During his career, Casto has served the Indiana State Police as a Dive Master with the SCUBA team, a member of the Tactical Intervention Platoon, a K-9 handler assigned to interdiction duties, a temporary duty assignment as an investigator with the Criminal Investigation Division, and as a member of the Motorcycle Patrol Unit. Casto is a graduate of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Leadership Academy and will also be a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s National Academy.
Casto and his family are residents of Allen County.
