Brentwood Police to assume emergency dispatch services March 15th and will implement SMART911
On Wednesday March 15th, the Brentwood Police Department will assume police dispatch services for the City of Brentwood. For the past 20 years, the Brentwood Police Department has partnered with the City of Antioch to provide emergency dispatch services for the citizens of Brentwood.
The new Center is the result of a 2015 decision by the Brentwood City Council to build a new Communications Center to enhance public safety services to its population of nearly 60,000. The new Center has been ergonomically designed and features state of the art technology. A key feature of this new technology is the implementation of SMART911.
SMART911 is a free service available for all residents and travelers to Brentwood, that allows individuals and families to sign up online to provide key information to 911 call takers in case of an emergency. Once signed up, citizens can create a Safety Profile for their household that includes any information they want emergency dispatchers and first responders to have in the event of an emergency. When the citizen makes an emergency call to 911, their safety profile is automatically displayed to the 911 call taker, allowing them to send the right response teams to the right location with the right information.
With SMART911, citizens can link both home and work addresses to mobile phones, which can be passed on to responders in the field for a more detailed, rapid response. Additional information including pets in the home, vehicle details in the event of an accident, and even emergency contacts can all be included in a Safety Profile. All information is optional and the citizen has the ability to choose what details they would like to include.
Citizens are encouraged to create their Safety Profile with SMART911 today to have their information available to 911 and to receive emergency notifications when the City of Brentwood assumes dispatch responsibilities on March 15th. SMART911 is private and secure, is only used for emergency responses, and only made available to the 911 system in the event of an emergency call.
