** SCAM ALERT ** 
As you know, there are a variety of scams being perpetrated via telephone, email and through other social media applications. The latest affecting Morgan County is the "Grandparent" scam.
The perpetrators telephone a grandparent and either pose as their grandchild or claim they are a government official, usually from a foreign country, claiming their grandchild is in legal trouble.
Once they gain the confidence of the grandparent, they provide a financial solution to have their grandchild released. However, once the grandparent sends the designated amount of money pursuant to their specific instructions, it merely opens the door for additional "fees", etc. which is never ending.
Please do not provide these imposters any personal or financial information and contact family members first to check the status of the family member in question. Do not send anyone money until you discuss with family or friends or a law enforcement official.
