...Critical Fire Weather Conditions Today... Strong westerly winds will move into the area today behind a cold front. Winds will be sustained between 20 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. This will usher in very dry air reducing relative humidity values to 15 to 25 percent. The dry conditions will allow any wet fuels to dry out and cause extreme fire danger. ...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM THIS MORNING TO 6 PM CST THIS EVENING FOR GUSTY WINDS...LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY...AND DRY FUELS FOR FIRE WEATHER ZONES 003, 005, 006, 007, 008, 015, 016, 017, 024, 025, 032, 033, 040, AND 046... The National Weather Service in Kansas City/Pleasant Hill has issued a Red Flag Warning, which is in effect from 11 AM this morning to 6 PM CST this evening. The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect.

* AFFECTED AREA...Fire weather zones 003, 005, 006, 007, 008, 015, 016, 017, 024, 025, 032, 033, 040, and 046.

* WIND...Sustained westerly winds of 15 to 25 mph are expected, with occasional gusts as high as 40 mph.

* HUMIDITY...Relative humidity is expected to drop as low as 15 percent this afternoon.

* IMPACTS...any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
