Residential burglars arrested
On Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at approximately 1:57 pm, a Menlo Park resident in the Willow’s neighborhood observed a suspicious person walking around the neighborhood. The subject was then observed climbing over a fence of a residence in the 400 block of Central Ave. Menlo Park Police officers arrived within seconds and observed a second subject entering the residence through a side window. A perimeter around the residence was established with the assistance of a San Mateo County Sheriff’s deputy and his K-9 partner and a California Highway Patrol (CHP) officer and his K-9 partner.
An announcement was made to the subjects inside the residence, and a short time later the two exited with masks and gloves on. They were detained without incident and found to have stolen property in their possession from the residence.
No one was home during the time of the incident, and all of the stolen property was recovered. Suspect one is a 16 year old male from East Palo Alto and the second suspect is a 15 year old male also from East Palo Alto. Both suspects were booked into Hillcrest Juvenile Hall for possession of stolen property, burglary, and conspiracy.
Police thank the resident for being alert and promptly reporting this incident.
