On Sunday, March 5, 2017 at approximately 5:00pm, Hope Mills Police Officers responded to the 3700 block of Hagge Street in reference to a disturbance. Upon arrival, Officers found that the disturbance was still ongoing and, the subjects on-scene were engaged in a physical fight with eachother. When the Officers attempted to break the fight up, one of the subjects, later identified as Jeremiah Emmanuel Smith, 22 of the 3700 block of Hagge Street, punched an Officer in the face. Upon being attacked by Smith, the Officer deployed his TASER, and pointed it at Smith. At that time, Smith attempted to strike the Officer again and the Officer fired his TASER which subdued Smith and he was then taken into custody without further incident. Smith was transported to the Cumberland County Detention Center where he was received a $1000.00 bond for the following charges:
