Alert Citizen Summons Police after Recognizing Shoplifting Suspect
Vigo County—An alert citizen called police this evening around 9:40 after seeing a news report on the earlier suspect at large, to report a person matching the shoplifting suspect appeared to be at the Loves Truck Stop on South US 41 and Harlan Road.
Troopers and deputies responded to the area. While Troopers Brad Fyfe and Courtland Woodruff and Vigo County Sheriff’s Deputy Kris Morris were checking the grounds and the facility, Vigo County Sheriff’s Deputy Matt Barts located the suspect walking in a ditch near the southbound lanes of US 41 just north of Harlan Road.
The suspect was taken into custody by the officers without incident and appeared to still have some of the suspected articles from the earlier department store thefts with him. He was taken to the Vigo County Jail with charges with charges being handled by the VCSO.
Law enforcement team work brought to an end this evening’s small crime spree which began at approximately 5:50p.m.
Arrested: Vincent S. Johnson, age 27, believed to be from Charleston, IL.
Charges: Please contact the Vigo Co Sheriff’s Office
