Man Arrested for Illegal Firearm Possession.
On Thursday, March 9, 2017 at approximately 10:15 pm, a Hope Mills Police Officer attempted to perform a traffic stop on a black Ford Taurus on Hope Mills Road near Camden Road after the Officer observed a registration violation on the vehicle. When the Officer activated his blue lights, the vehicle continued to travel north on Hope Mills Road towards George Owen Road at a slow speed. The vehicle then turned right onto the Hope Mills bypass where the driver, later identified as Donald Neal McCall, 36 of the 500 block of Stafford Street in Fairmont, threw an object into the woods bordering the roadway. The vehicle then stopped near Baxley Street where the Officer made contact with McCall. During the Officer’s contact with McCall, the Officer found marijuana and 9mm pistol ammunition in the passenger compartment of the vehicle. The Officer then located the object that McCall threw from the vehicle which was a 9mm Glock pistol with an extended magazine. At that time, McCall was arrested and transported to the Cumberland County Detention Center where he was jailed under a $20,000.00 bond for the following charges:
1 Felony count of Possession of a Firearm by a Felon
1 Misdemeanor count of Possession of Marijuana
1 Misdemeanor count of Driving While License Revoked
