Winter Storm Watch & High Wind Watch
The National Weather Service has issued several Watches for our area.
The first is a Winter Storm Watch (Monday Evening to Tuesday Afternoon). Potential for storm total snowfall greater than 6 inches. However, there remains uncertainty in exact totals as a sharp gradient will exist between the heaviest snowfall and locations where very little snow may occur. We are currently predicted to get at least 2-3 inches of snow. Changes to the forecast track of the storm can result in substantial changes in the total accumulations.
Please make sure you, your family, and elderly neighbors are prepared for any snowfall we may get. Snow is expected to arrive sometime Monday Evening and last into Tuesday.
The Second is a High Wind Watch (Tuesday Morning till Tuesday Evening). There is a possibility that the approaching storm will bring sustained winds of 20 to 40 MPH and gusts up to 60 MPH. Please make sure that items outside are secure.
If you have trash pick up on Tuesday, we urge that you take your trash cans out as late as possible and bring them in as quickly as possible. No One wants trash flying around their neighborhood and those cans are getting expensive.
Other hazards during high winds include tree limbs and wires falling. If you see wires on the ground call 911. The fire department will come out and determine the hazard. Treat all downed wires as if they have power running through them and are DEADLY.
The Fire District as always will have New Egypt Fire Company Volunteers & Career Fire/EMS Staff available to respond to Fire and EMS (Ambulance) calls for service.
