A WINTER STORM WARNING IS IN EFFECT FROM 8 PM THIS EVENING UNTIL 6 PM TUESDAY. A MAJOR COASTAL STORM WILL AFFECT THE REGION.

Low pressure will develop off the Carolina coast today and intensify into a powerful nor’easter as it moves east of New Jersey on Tuesday. Heavy precipitation will develop along and west of the track of the storm. Substantial accumulations expected.

Due to the impending storm Robbinsville Township trash collection for Tuesday, March 14 is postponed until Saturday, March 18. Please call Public Works at (609) 259-0422 if you have any questions.

* HAZARD TYPES: Heavy snow and strong winds.
* ACCUMULATIONS: Snow accumulation of 18 to 24 inches.
* TIMING: Snow begins Monday evening from southwest to northeast across the warning area, becoming heavy at times with snowfall rates of one to two inches per hour late Monday night and Tuesday morning. Snow will diminish by Tuesday evening.
* IMPACTS: The heavy snow will make many roads impassable and may produce widespread power outages due to the weight of the snow on tree limbs and power lines.
* WINDS: Northeast 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.
* VISIBILITY: One half mile or less at times.
* TEMPERATURES: From the mid 20s to lower 30s.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected. Significant amounts of snow is forecasted that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an emergency. If you must travel keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
