Crimes Against Children Investigators arrest subject for Lewd Acts with a Child/Oral Copulation

LOCATION: Fir Street, Trona
VICTIM: Confidential - 14-year-old female
SUSPECT: Edwin Funke, 39 years old, resident of Trona
SUMMARY:
On Monday, March 13, 2017, Sheriff’s Detectives received information regarding an inappropriate relationship between Edwin Funke and an underage female. Detectives contacted the victim and she disclosed that Funke sexually assaulted her at his home in Trona on several occasions in 2016. Detectives from Trona Station and the Crimes Against Children Detail conducted an investigation and Funke was arrested on March 14, 2017.
Funke was booked at the High Desert Detention Center for violation of PC 288a(b)(1); Oral Copulation and PC 288(c)(1) Lewd Acts with a Child with bail set at $50,000. Funke is scheduled for arraignment on March 16, 2017 in Victorville Superior Court.
Funke has been a Citizen Volunteer in Trona since October of 2014, but is no longer affiliated with the department.
