Saturday Night Crash on I-74 Claims Life of Nine Year Old Girl
Franklin County: A single vehicle crash on I-74 in Franklin County killed a nine-year old child and seriously injured the driver.
Just before midnight Saturday night, troopers responded to a single vehicle crash along Interstate 74 near the 147 mile marker (two miles west of the Batesville exit). Investigators learned that Scott Borgmann of Cedar Grove, IN was traveling eastbound in his 2013 Kia Soul when he lost control and left the south side of the roadway. Borgmann’s vehicle struck a tree and drove through a fence before rolling over numerous times.
Borgmann’s nine-year old passenger was transported to Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville where she died a short time later. Borgmann was also transported to Margaret Mary and was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by the Indiana State Police.
ISP was assisted at the scene by the Batesville Police Department, Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, Sunman and Batesville Rescue, Batesville Fire Department, and Buckley’s Towing Service.
