PRESS RELEASE: Warsaw Police Arrest Suspect Moments After Attack
PRESS RELEASE
Warsaw Police have arrested a male subject who hid inside an unlocked car and attacked the female driver. At 10:20 p.m. yesterday, March 20, 2017, police were called to CVS Pharmacy, 100 N. Detroit Street, in downtown Warsaw, after a female ran inside the store and advised that she had been attacked in her car.
The investigation shows that the 19 year old female victim arrived at CVS just after 10:00 p.m. and went inside the store to shop. During that time, the manager and an employee observed a male in the parking lot attempting to get a ride and the manager asked the suspect to leave, and he walked away upset. A few moments later the manager heard the victim scream and run frantically inside the store stating that she had been attacked after returning to her car. The investigation indicates that the female victim returned to her unlocked car, starts it, and then observes the suspect in her back seat. The suspect grabs her and she fights to get away, biting the suspect on the hand until she is able to pull away and get out of the car. The victim then runs inside the store and the suspect exits the car and runs away.
Warsaw Police located the suspect about a block away and took him into custody without incident. The suspect matched the description given by the victim, and he had an injury to his hand. The suspect was also identified by the store manager as the same subject that she had told to leave. The suspect admitted to police that he intended to take the victims money and car. The suspect was intoxicated and armed with a screwdriver.
Daniel V. Davis, 34 years old, of Warsaw, was booked on a preliminary charge of robbery with a deadly weapon or bodily injury. He also had a felony warrant for a probation violation. He is being held at the Kosciusko County Jail with no bond.
