Investigation Underway into Alleged Attack on Juvenile

Investigation Underway into Alleged Attack on Juvenile

Vermillion County—Indiana State Police and the Vermillion County Sheriff’s Office have initiated an investigation into the alleged stabbing of a 15-year-old female at a residence on west county road 1150 north, a rural residence in the northwestern part of the county.

Preliminary investigation revealed the Vermillion County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from the victim at 12:24 reporting the attack. At 12:36, Indiana State Police Trooper Mike Laney and Perrysville Fire/Rescue arrived on scene and found the fully clothed victim unconscious on the kitchen floor and suffering from what appeared to be a wound with substantial blood loss to her upper right leg. At 12:40, Vermillion County Sheriff’s Deputies Tim DisPennett and Mike Strader arrived, and in the following minutes, other deputies and troopers arrived and collectively the officers conducted a quick search of the area. The victim was subsequently transported to Union Hospital of Clinton with a serious leg wound.

The juvenile was reportedly attacked with a knife by an unknown assailant who had entered the residence through a window. The only suspect description was a male with a black mask.

Troopers and deputies spent several minutes canvasing the neighborhood and searching the wooded area and nearby roadways, but found no suspicious person(s).

The investigation is ongoing, and at this time, investigators do not believe there is a public safety concern. No other information will be released.

ISP Detective Don Anglin is the lead investigator with assistance from ISP Crime Scene Investigator Sgt. Brandon Mullen. Also assisting were numerous ISP troopers, VCSO deputies, Perrysville Fire/Rescue, and Vermillion County EMS.

Anyone with information related to this case is urged to contact Detective Anglin at the Putnamville Post at 765-653-4114.

Questions should be directed to ISP Sergeant Joe Watts.

Under the Law, criminal charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
