High School Coach Arrested for Sexual Assault
On March 17, 2017, the Campbell Police Department received information that an adult volunteer coach from Westmont High School in San Jose may have started an inappropriate relationship with a student. Detectives were able to gather enough evidence to indicate that the coach was having an on-going sexual relationship with the student in Campbell.
On March 21, 2017, the same day the allegations were corroborated, Nathaniel Makeeff, 20 years old of Campbell, was arrested at his residence. Makeeff was later booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on charges of oral copulation of a minor and digital penetration of a minor.
The Campbell Police Department has been working closely with Westmont High School and the Campbell Union High School District. At this time, detectives believe this was an isolated situation involving the one student. However, anyone who has any information about Mr. Makeeff is asked to call our Investigations Unit at (408) 871-5190.
