Henry County Check Point Results

New Castle – Friday night, from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. troopers from the Pendleton District held a sobriety check point and saturation patrol in the 600 block of South Memorial Drive in New Castle.  The check point was part of the March Enforcement Campaign aimed at “Dangerous and Impaired Driving."
 
Troopers checked a total of 153 cars through the two hour checkpoint. While troopers made no arrests for operating while intoxicated, they did arrest Matthew Henning, age 20 of Petersburg, Indiana, and Jeremy Meadows, age 20 of New Palestine Indiana, for Possession of a Narcotic Drug (Mushrooms,) Level 6 felony; Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Paraphernalia, both misdemeanor charges. Both men were lodged in the Henry County Jail.
 
Troopers issued 21 warnings and 2 tickets during the checkpoint, with one ticket issued to a suspended driver. According to the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute, in March 2016 there were 495 alcohol-related crashes across Indiana, resulting in 231 injuries and 11 fatalities. Motorists are encouraged to report suspected impaired drivers by calling 9-1-1. Give a vehicle description, location, and direction of travel. Never follow an impaired driver
