SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR I-65 WEST TILL 8PM

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH
89 IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM CDT THIS EVENING FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS

IN TENNESSEE THIS WATCH INCLUDES 9 COUNTIES

HUMPHREYS LEWIS MONTGOMERY
PERRY STEWART WAYNE

THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF CENTERVILLE, CLARKSVILLE, CLIFTON,
COLLINWOOD, DICKSON, DOVER, ERIN, HOHENWALD, LINDEN, LOBELVILLE,
MCEWEN, NEW JOHNSONVILLE, TENNESSEE RIDGE, WAVERLY,
AND WAYNESBORO.


The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of
Eastern Arkansas
Western Kentucky
Missouri Bootheel
Northern Mississippi
Western Tennessee

* Effective this Monday afternoon and evening from 1205 PM until
800 PM CDT.

* Primary threats include...
Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2.5
inches in diameter possible
Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible
A tornado or two possible

SUMMARY...Severe thunderstorms will continue to develop within an
increase moist and unstable air mass across the region. Mostly
linear bands of severe thunderstorms will spread east-northeastward
across northwest Tennessee into west-central Kentucky, while more
isolated storms are expected across northern Mississippi into
west-central Tennessee. Large hail and damaging winds can be
expected, and at least some tornado risk could gradually increase
through the afternoon.

The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 70
statute miles east and west of a line from 30 miles south southwest
of Oxford MS to 50 miles north northwest of Fort Campbell KY. For a

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening
weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce
tornadoes.

AVIATION...A few severe thunderstorms with hail surface and aloft to
2.5 inches. Extreme turbulence and surface wind gusts to 60 knots. A
few cumulonimbi with maximum tops to 500. Mean storm motion vector
25030.
