City Coordinates Response Efforts To Storm Damage
The City of Arlington has launched a Level 2 activation of its Emergency Operations Center to coordinate response efforts to damage caused by storms that came through the DFW Metroplex during the early morning hours.
Arlington is currently responding to what is described as minor, widespread damage, which includes downed power lines, trees and fences. As of 10 a.m., Oncor Electric is reporting close to 27,000 Arlington households without electricity. The Public Works Department is also reporting eight intersections without traffic lights caused by power outages.
In addition to the minor widespread damage, the Arlington Municipal Airport is reporting damage to an unoccupied aircraft on the ground.
The Arlington Independent School District has closed 19 schools and all campuses in the Mansfield ISD remain closed for the day. The Tarrant County College Southeast Campus also remains closed.
As of 10 a.m. today, there were no reports of injuries to Arlington residents.
The role of the city’s Emergency Operations Center is to coordinate public safety response efforts to assess and restore damaged environments to pre-disaster conditions.
