Jade Avenue Area Power Flush and Water Outage
Las Cruces Utilities will be performing a power flush with an accompanying water outage in preparation for returning the Sandhill Arroyo main line into service. The activity will begin at 10 p.m. Thursday, March 30, and last approximately two hours.
These actions could create discolored water for residents and businesses in the Jade Avenue area west of Emerald Street in the Agate and Amethyst Street area, due to naturally occurring iron and manganese in the water. Although the water is safe to drink, the City recommends waiting to wash laundry until after the water becomes clear.
The discoloration should disappear within 24 hours. If it does not, residents and businesses should flush all cold water faucets for five minutes. If discoloration remains, call the City of Las Cruces at 526-0500 for assistance. The TTY number is 575/541-2182.
