On March 29, 2017 at approximately 12:20pm, Corporal Harden was on patrol near Fruit Street and Foothill Boulevard when he saw smoke coming from the area of the mobile home park at 4095 Fruit Street. He quickly responded to the area to investigate and upon arrival found the front porch of one of the homes fully engulfed in flames which were now reaching the main residence. He immediately notified dispatch and requested assistance.

Corporal Harden was able to make contact with the residents after several unsuccessful attempts and initiated an evacuation with the assistance of Corporal Sullivan, who had arrived to assist. As the home quickly filled with smoke, Corporals Harden and Sullivan entered the home and evacuated the two senior residents, one of whom required physical assistance due to impaired mobility. As a precaution they also quickly evacuated the four surrounding residents. Each of the residents were taken to safety and kept calm until the Fire Department arrived.
