PITTSTOWN COUPLE INDICTED BY GRAND JURY
Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III, announced the indictment of Christopher Pennetta, age 52, and Catherine Pennetta, age 57, both of Pittstown. On March 23, 2017, Mr. Pennetta and Ms. Pennetta were indicted by a Hunterdon County Grand Jury for 3rd degree Theft by Deception, 3rd degree Conspiracy to Commit Theft by Deception, 4th degree Hindering Apprehension, 3rd Failure to Pay Taxes, 3rd degree Failure to File Tax Returns, 4th degree Falsifying Records, and 4th degree Unlicensed Home Improvement Contractor.
According to Prosecutor Kearns, “Christopher and Catherine Pennetta were arrested in October 2016, after an eight month investigation revealed they were responsible for the submission of misleading applications for social services and social security benefits since March of 2014, and failing to file and pay income taxes in 2014 and 2015. The Pennetta’s were also found to be operating a home improvement business without the proper registration in 2015 and 2016.”
The filing of a criminal complaint is merely a step in the criminal justice process. The defendant is presumed innocent until the matter is resolved in a court of law.
