...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM LATE MONDAY NIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY EVENING... The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a

* Flood Watch that includes the New Jersey counties of Sussex, Warren, Morris, Hunterdon, Somerset, Mercer, Middlesex and Monmouth

* From late Monday night through Tuesday evening.

* Rain is forecast to overspread northern and central New Jersey on Monday evening. The rain is expected to become moderate to heavy from Monday night into early Tuesday morning. Rainfall rates should decrease gradually during the mid to late morning hours on Tuesday with the rain anticipated to end on Tuesday afternoon.

* Rainfall totals of 1 to 2 inches are expected with locally higher amounts possible. The moderate to heavy rain is forecast to fall on areas that received generally 1 to 3 inches of rain on Friday. The ground remains wet and rivers and streams continue to run high.

* The heavy rain will likely result in some roadway flooding along with flooding in areas of poor drainage. Some small streams and creeks may leave their banks. Minor flooding is possible in the Passaic and Raritan River basins.

* AFFECTED AREAS: EASTERN MONMOUTH ... HUNTERDON ... MERCER ... MIDDLESEX ... MORRIS ... SOMERSET ... SUSSEX ... WARREN ... WESTERN MONMOUTH
