Flood Watch until 05:45AM Tuesday

...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT EDT TONIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY EVENING... The Flood Watch continues for

* The New Jersey counties of Sussex, Warren, Morris, Hunterdon, Somerset, Mercer, Middlesex and Monmouth, and for the Pennsylvania counties of Carbon, Monroe and Northampton

* From midnight tonight through Tuesday evening.

* Rain is forecast to overspread eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey this evening. The rain is expected to become moderate to heavy overnight into early Tuesday morning. Rainfall rates should diminish during the morning hours on Tuesday. However, there is a chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms from late Tuesday morning into Tuesday afternoon that could bring additional locally heavy rain. All precipitation should end by Tuesday evening.

* Rainfall totals of 1 to 1.5 inches are expected with locally higher amounts around 2 inches possible. The moderate to heavy rain is forecast to fall on areas that received generally 1 to 3 inches of rain on Friday. The ground remains wet, and rivers and streams continue to run high.

* Another heavy rain event is anticipated from late Wednesday night into Thursday. Widespread rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected with locally higher amounts. It should not take much rainfall to result in new flooding at that time in light of the wet conditions leading up to the event. Minor flooding may even occur on the main stem rivers in the Passaic and Raritan River basins. Any flooding on the Passaic River could linger into the weekend.

* AFFECTED AREAS: EASTERN MONMOUTH ... HUNTERDON ... MERCER ... MIDDLESEX ... MORRIS ... SOMERSET ... SUSSEX ... WARREN ... WESTERN MONMOUTH
