April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month.
Technology allows us to make phone calls, dictate texts or emails and update social media while driving – all actions that are proven to increase crash risk. The National Safety Council and law enforcement agencies from across the nation observes April as Distracted Driving Awareness Month to draw attention to this epidemic. The Sausalito Police Department encourages you to put your safety and the safety of the general public first and put down your mobile devices and just drive.
During the month of April, the Sausalito Police Department and other law enforcement agencies will be putting extra emphasis on the enforcement of distracted driving violations. Those that are found to be driving while distracted are subject to being cited and fined.
