ALERT-Scammers are calling local business owners pretending to be Consumers Energy billing-alerting customers to a possible shut off of gas and/or electric. The Marshall Police Department reminds consumers, it business owners, and residents to never give out personal information over the phone. If you question the legitimacy of a phone call, hang up and do NOT give out personal name, bank, and home information. These callers are NOT from Consumers Energy and do not represent local utility companies. They place calls nationwide attempting to scam people.
