South Chula Vista Library Holds Evening Gown Giveaway
Would you like a free evening gown for your high school prom? The South Chula Vista Library, 389 Orange Ave, will host its annual Princess Project prom dress giveaway event on Saturday, April 22, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. High school girls in grades 9 through 12 can select a new or gently used gown from a wide variety of styles, sizes and colors. Appointments can be made at http://www.princessprojectsd.org/get-a-dress/. Those with appointments can arrive between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Walk-ins may select their gowns between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Teens must bring a valid high school ID, and are eligible for one dress and accessory each. The library will continue to accept donations of gowns and accessories through April 20.
The Princess Project promotes self-confidence and individual beauty by providing free prom dresses and accessories to high school teens who cannot otherwise afford them. With the motto, “providing dreams for young girls, one dress at a time,” the organization has brought free gowns to more than 20,000 teens since it began in 2002. This annual effort is made possible through volunteer, donor and community support.
Make sure to get your tickets for the upcoming annual Bon Appétit Food & Wine Celebration, hosted by our Library Foundation, Sat, Apr 29, 5-9 pm, at the Otay Ranch Town Center's Food Pavilion. Tickets are $45, at any library branch or at the door. Guests must be 21 or older. Proceeds benefit the Library's services and programs.
