At approximately 12:40 a.m. this morning officers were dispatched to the scene of a three vehicle traffic collision at the intersection of Katella and Valley View. During the investigation, it was determined that the vehicle driven by Nicholas Sanchez-McCormick (8-16-94) was traveling westbound on Katella and ran a red light at the intersection of Valley View. His vehicle collided with two other vehicles, which were traveling north and south on Valley View.
As a result of the collisions, an adult female, the passenger in Nicholas Sanchez-McCormick's vehicle, was killed. Three other individuals were transported to a local area hospital as a precaution. At this time, the name of the deceased is not being released.
Nicholas Sanchez-McCormick was placed under arrest for the violation of Penal Code 192(c)(1) - Vehicle Manslaughter and California Vehicle Code 23152(a) - Felony DUI with Injuries. He was transported to Orange County Jail and is being held on $100,000 bail.
