NBPA to make residential permits digital beginning May 2017.
The Digital Permit program replaces a policy requiring a physical permit to be displayed in a vehicle. Instead, the permit holder will now register their license plate number through the Digital Permits website. The website allows residents to apply for their permit online, upload documents for application approval, receive an email when their permit is approved and manage their permits. Permit holders eligible for a Visitor permit will be able to add up to two vehicles to the permit (per property) and change the vehicles when needed. A New Brunswick Parking Authority employee will scan the wards using license plate recognition (LPR) technology to determine if vehicles parked within the ward have a valid permit.
• New Brunswick has six residential parking wards.
• All permit holders will now be able to apply for their permits online.
• Permit holders have 24/7/365 customer service access.
• Permit holders may go in person to register for a digital permit if they choose to do so.
• The New Brunswick Parking Authority will have a full-time permit enforcement crew.
• There is no cost for permit holders to obtain a permit in the Residential Permit program but there are permit limitations by permit type.
