“SEVERE INJURY HIT AND RUN TRAFFIC COLLISION IN CENTRAL AREA”
Los Angeles- On April 20, 2017, at approximately 12:20 a.m., a severe injury vehicle vs. pedestrian hit and run occurred at the intersection of 6th Street and Towne Avenue in Central Area. The victim, a male, Hispanic, in his 50’s, was crossing 6th Street in a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound on 6th Street. The vehicle sped eastbound from the location without stopping. Within minutes, witnesses noticed the vehicle return to the scene and pass the fallen victim. The driver again left the scene eastbound on 6th Street and then made a left turn onto Stanford Avenue. One of the witnesses rode his motor scooter after the suspect and managed to reach him at 5th Street and Stanford Avenue. The witness and suspect exchanged words and then the suspect fled a second time. Fortunately, the witness obtained the license plate number and provided responding police officers with the information.
Paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene and transported the victim to LAC+USC Medical Center. He suffered severe head and body trauma and underwent surgery. He is currently listed in critical condition. The victim’s identity is unknown.
The suspect vehicle is described as a black 2007 Cadillac CTS, four-door, bearing license plate number 5YTE203. The driver is a male, Black in his 50’s.
