Hockley County Sheriff's Office calls for service and activities for 4/18/17 through 4/20/17.

Good Friday morning! The following are calls for service and activities for the Sheriff’s Office for Tuesday, 4/18/17, through Thursday, 4/20/17.

4/18/17

-Horseshoe Rd at FM 303, Levelland: Vehicle Crash. Deputies responded to a vehicle crash in the area. The scene was turned over to State Troopers.

-600 blk Sylvan, Anton: Disturbance. Deputies responded to a reported disturbance at a residence. An assault was reported by one of the residents, and deputies were advised the subject left the residence prior to their arrival. A report was completed for the assaultive offense.

-Kelly Rd at FM 300, Levelland: Animal Complaint. Deputies were dispatched to check welfare on a horse in the area. The area was checked and the horse had adequate shelter, water, and food.

-Hwy 84 at FM 168, Anton: Reckless Driver. A deputy was dispatched to Hwy 84 regarding a reckless driver entering the county. The information was passed on to Anton Police, as well as surrounding counties as well.

4/19/17

-Hwy 385 at Kansas Rd, Whitharral: Vehicle Fire. A deputy driving in the area saw a vehicle pulled to the side of the highway on fire. The deputy stopped to assist in extinguishing the fire. The Levelland Fire Department was also dispatched to the area to assist.

-3400 blk FM 2646, Levelland: Animal Complaint. A deputy was notified about an issue with cattle on property in the area. The area was checked and the cattle had sufficient food and water accessible to them, and all appeared to be in good health. The owner advised he would be moving them from that location.

-Hwy 114 at FM 168, Smyer: Reckless Driver. Deputies were dispatched to the area to attempt to locate a reckless driver. The area was checked and the vehicle was not located.

-FM 1294 at Onion Shed Rd, Anton: Welfare Check. A deputy observed a vehicle stopped along the roadway. He contacted an individual and determined it was a farmer checking on wells on the property.

-100 blk Mandy Circle, Opdyke West: Civil Issue. A deputy met with a complainant regarding a civil issue at a residence in the area. Civil remedies were advised and process was served.

-Hwy 385 at Caribou Ln, Levelland: Welfare Check. Deputies were dispatched to the area regarding a male subject along the highway. The individual was contacted and advised he was attempting to get to Brownfield. The deputy transported the individual to the county line at Terry County.

-800 blk Owl Rd, Smyer: Civil Issue. A deputy was dispatched to meet with a complainant about a civil matter. A report was taken related to the matter and further civil remedies were advised.

4/20/17

-FM 1490 at Brazil Rd, Levelland: Theft. Deputies responded to a reported theft of a UTV in the area. An individual reported unknown subjects took a UTV from property in the area. Evidence was recovered and the case is under investigation.

-1900 blk Black Gold Rd, Levelland: Theft. Deputies met with county personnel regarding a theft of property. Several items, including lawn equipment, were taken. A report was completed and the case is under investigation.

-1310 Avenue H, LEC: Assault. Deputies completed a report related to an assaultive offense involving a juvenile. A report was completed and the matter is under investigation.

-200 blk 2nd St, Whitharral: Disturbance. Deputies were dispatched to a verbal disturbance at a sports event in the area. The subject left prior to the arrival of deputies, and no offenses were reported. The disturbance was verbal only.

-FM 303 at Phoenix Rd, Pettit: A deputy patrolling in the area located an abandoned vehicle. The vehicle was not reported stolen and was clear of the roadway. A notation of the location was made and deputies will follow up.

Deputies also conducted close patrols/vacation watches, investigative follow-up activities, civil process service, and patrols around the county.

Jail population as of 4/21/17 at 0800 hours: 40 in Hockley County, 9 to be processed, and 14 out-of-county.
