Lowell Troopers Honored at Ceremony

(Indianapolis, IN)-Troopers from the Lowell District were honored recently at an awards ceremony at the Indiana Government Center in Indianapolis.
 
Indiana State Police Superintendent Douglas G. Carter presented awards to Troopers Ryan Hovarter, Brandon Bohling, and Jason Pratt for their service to the State of Indiana.
 
Trooper Ryan Hovarter was awarded the 2016 Lowell District Trooper of the Year.  This award was presented to Hovarter for achieving outstanding enforcement efforts in the areas of traffic and criminal enforcement, case and crash investigations, public information programs and community service; and for exemplifying the professionalism and integrity expected of an Indiana State Trooper. Trooper Hovarter has served with the Indiana State Police for over six years.  He resides in Starke County.
 
Trooper Jason Pratt was awarded the O.W. I. Award for his efforts in removing impaired and intoxicated motorists from Indiana roadways.  Pratt took 48 impaired and intoxicated drivers off the road in 2016. Trooper Pratt has served with the Indiana State Police for over two years.  He resides in Porter County with his family.
 
Trooper Brandon Bohling was awarded a commendation award.  This award is given to an employee for extraordinary conduct and exemplary professionalism.  This award stemmed from September 3, 2016 while off duty he rendered first aid to an unconscious and unresponsive male in downtown Hobart.  Bohling used his Automated External Defibrillator (AED), Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and the Heimlich maneuver until EMS arrived.  Trooper Bohling has served with the Indiana State Police for four years.  He resides in Porter County.
