Sergeant Chris Barr Promoted to Lieutenant at Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division
Today, April 24th, Indiana State Police Superintendent Douglas Carter promoted Sergeant Chris Barr to the rank of Lieutenant to serve as Field Operations Commander of the Indiana State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division. The Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division is responsible for enforcing both state and federal regulations on all commercial motor vehicles.
Barr is a native of Bargersville and a 1986 graduate of Franklin Community High School. He graduated with an Associate’s Degree from Vincennes University in 1998 and attended Indiana University/Purdue University at Indianapolis.
Barr began his law enforcement career in 1995 upon graduation from the 52nd Indiana State Police Academy. He was assigned to the Indianapolis Post and patrolled Marion and Boone Counties. In June of 1998 he was reassigned to the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division as a Motor Carrier Enforcement Officer. In 2006 Barr was promoted to Sergeant to serve as the New Entrant Program Coordinator. This position involves the supervision of Motor Carrier Inspectors and Troopers involved in conducting Safety Audits on trucking companies.
Lieutenant Barr will be the Field Operations Commander for the Indiana State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division and will be responsible for 52 troopers statewide.
Lieutenant Barr resides with his wife of nearly 29 years and his son in Johnson County. His daughter is married and also lives in Johnson County.
