Two ISP Lafayette Troopers Recognized at Award Ceremony

Indianapolis – Friday, the Indiana State Police Department held an awards and recognition ceremony in Indianapolis. The ceremony publicly recognized the achievements and deeds of self-sacrifice and accomplishments that all too often go without the proper recognition. Forty people from around the state, were honored for their dedication to service, bravery, devotion to the department and the citizens of Indiana. Two troopers assigned to the Indiana State Police Lafayette Post were recognized at the ceremony.

Trooper Tyler Stinson, who works from the Indiana State Police Lafayette Post, was recognized as the 2016 Trooper of the District. The award is given annually to the trooper that personifies integrity, professionalism, and a well-rounded work ethic. Stinson was selected by the command staff at the Lafayette District for dedication to his job, traffic and criminal enforcement with over 1,000 traffic stops resulting in 571 citations and 27 criminal arrests, community involvement both on and off duty, instructor ratings, over 600 police services, his leadership skills and other services performed for the department beyond normal expectations. Stinson has worked for the state police for 9 years. He patrols primarily in White, Carroll, Clinton and Tippecanoe Counties.

Trooper Jared McQueary, also assigned to the Indiana State Police Lafayette District, received the Indiana State Police District DUI Award for his commitment to removing impaired drivers from Indiana roadways. In 2016, he led the Lafayette District with 29 impaired driving arrests. He has served with the Indiana State Police Department for almost three years. He patrols primarily in Tippecanoe, White Carroll and Clinton Counties.

“These two troopers are the example that troopers in the district strive to achieve,” stated Lieutenant Tom McKee, commander of the Indiana State Police Lafayette Post. “Our thanks go out to all the troops who help keep Hoosiers safe on the roads of Indiana.”
