Advisory

Fire hydrant flushing begins tonight. Work will last for two weeks on weekdays (M-Th) 7:00 p.m to 10:00 p.m.

The Lyndhurst Water Department (LWD) will be testing and flushing all fire hydrants beginning Monday, April 24, 2017. The hydrants will be flushed weekdays (Monday through Thursday) between the hours of 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and the work is anticipated to be completed in about two weeks.

Customers should note that there may be some unavoidable water discoloration and low pressure at any time during the two week flushing period.

The LWD assures all customers that the water will be safe for use during this period; however, customers are cautioned to determine if the water is clear before washing clothes (or any other processing) as staining may occur. Restaurant, Bars, or any other food preparation establishment should take note to turn off any ice making machines during flushing hours and to check to determine if the water is clear before turning the equipment back on. The LWD regrets any inconvenience this may cause its customers.
