Modesto, CA – A homicide investigation is underway after a female’s body was discovered on Friday in a northwest Modesto alleyway.

At 9 a.m. on Friday, April 21, 2017, officers responded to the 1500 block of Grape near Evergreen on a reported person down in the alleyway. Upon arrival, officers discovered the partially clothed woman was deceased. Detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit responded to the scene and initiated an investigation.

The preliminary findings suggest that the victim, identified as 41-year-old Jenny Wu, was a reported missing person from a nearby care facility. No suspects have been identified and a cause of death has not yet been determined.

This is the 4th death investigation detectives have been called to this month. During these extensive investigations, many of the details pertaining to the cases are not released to the community to protect the integrity of the case and to ensure successful prosecution, should an arrest be made. Detectives have enough information, however, to determine that the deaths are not related.
