Woodway PSD has experienced a recent increase of reports of phone scams. The scammers have used various methods in these cases but many times will tell the victim that a child or grandchild has been arrested in another state or has been involved in an accident in which immediate payment is needed to help their case. The scammers request the victim over night payment, purchase pre-paid credit cards and provide them with the numbers, or in the latest two cases that they purchase hundreds of dollars of ITunes gift cards and send the codes from them. Woodway PSD asks that if you receive a call similar to this or if you question the validity of any type of a call requesting personal or financial information please contact the department at 254-772-4470 before acting upon any request.
